Silvia Van Aken
Silvia Van Aken (1975) studied Communication Sciences at the K.U.Leuven. She is a member of the research group Word & Image (MAD Faculty) and a lecturer communication and change management at the Media & Design Academy/Communication & Multimedia Design (Catholic University College Limburg).
Her research interests: film studies, more specific: narratology, cognitive theory and representation theory. She wrote her master project about the representation of the Afro-American in the American feature film. After her studies she has build up ten years experience with internal and external communication. Currently, she is working on a Phd research project at the Faculty of Social & Political Sciences at the K.U.Leuven. This Phd project studies the narrative characteristics of American mind films since the 1990s. She has presented her methodological approach at the 2009 congress of the Theatre Academy (Helsinki) and at the research days of Lemmensinstitute (Leuven).
