Pascal Lefèvre

Doctor Pascal Lefèvre (°1963; Tienen, Belgium) studied Social Sciences and American Studies at the university of Leuven (K.U.Leuven). After working as a researcher at the Belgian national broadcasting corporation (BRTN / VRT) and as a part-time scientific advisor to the Belgian Centre of Comic Strip Art in Brussels, he started, in 1998, lecturing on comics and visual media at various Flemish university colleges of Art (Sint-Lukas Brussels, Sint-Lucas Antwerp and MDA in Genk). He has also done research for Huis van Alijn in Ghent (2006) and SMartbe, an association of artists (2009-2010). Since 2008 he is an affiliated researcher at the university of Leuven. With numerous publications and presentations at various conferences in Western Europe, the USA, and Japan he has become one of the leading theorists and historians in the field of graphic narratives (comics, bande dessinée, manga). Currently he is researching early visual narratives and crossmedia.
