“Transitionality” between word and image in fictional stories for adults: the origin and reading experience of experimental books

Researchers: Kris De Tollenaere, Jeanine Eerdekens, Pascal Lefèvre & Sofie Vandoninck

This project examines the transitionality or transfer of word and image in fiction for adults.
The research deals with the process of transitionality for the development and reception of a story.
This research focuses particularly on the interaction between a linguistic and a non-linguistic mark; on the one hand the text in determined by the developed images, on the other hand the images are influenced by the developed linguistic mark. In this way the book as the object ( carrier of the process of transitionality) as well as the book as the subject get a chance. Finally the book as object/subject in proportion to the reading experience will be examined.
